AHN Streamer is a new QGIS plugin that streams lidar point clouds of the Netherlands (AHN 2–6) straight into your map canvas. It loads only the area you’re looking at, using the Cloud Optimized Point Cloud (COPC) format, so you don’t have to download map sheets by hand from the AHN Dataroom. In this video I show how to: set up a QGIS project for Dutch lidar data (EPSG:7415, RD New + NAP), install the plugin (it’s experimental for now), choose an AHN version and filter and style the points, set a maximum number of map sheets to stream, view the streamed points in 2D and 3D map views, merge the COPC tiles into one Virtual Point Cloud (VPC) and add more tiles to it later, You can then process the streamed data further with the point cloud tools in QGIS. I’d love to hear your feedback on the plugin! 🔗 AHN Dataroom 🔗 AHN Streamer plugin Chapters 0:00 Introduction 0:18 AHN lidar data and the COPC format 0:50 Preparing the QGIS project (EPSG:7415) 1:13 Installing the AHN Streamer plugin 1:34 The AHN Streamer panel 1:59 Loading the point cloud for the map extent 2:18 Streamed tiles and attribute table 2:40 Styling with RGB and filtering buildings 3:05 Streaming in the 3D map view 3:27 Removing layers and merging into a VPC 4:05 VPC in the 3D view 4:17 Extending the VPC with more tiles 4:38 Filtering and styling the VPC 4:52 Further processing and wrap-up
